FRONTEO’s AI review tool “KIBIT Automator” is used for legal investigation and litigation cases in an US asset management company

NEW YORK, August 4, 2021 – FRONTEO (TSE: 2158) announced that our AI review tool "KIBIT Automator" was used for an investigative case of unauthorized access and removal of confidential information in the United States.

An employee of an asset management company was charged with unauthorized access to a computer, unauthorized disclosure of confidential information, etc., alleging that the employee had illegally accessed and copied confidential information in the workplace while he was in his previous job. Utilizing "KIBIT Automator" equipped with the AI "KIBIT" that was developed by FRONTEO, we succeeded in completing the process of text review, which is said to occupy about 70% of the discovery procedure, in a short period of time.

The amount of data generated by companies is increasing year by year, and most data is said to be “unstructured” in nature, such as emails and reports. These data types would be the major target in legal actions, fraud investigations and audits. "KIBIT" excels in analyzing text data, and "KIBIT Automator" can perform highly accurate text analysis in a short amount of time. “KIBIT” has been used in numerous international litigation cases and fraud investigation cases, and is highly rated by US companies.

Since this examination was an additional survey of the same case that we had conducted , the analysis data from the previous stage wasused as training data, which considerably decreased the time and cost of preparing the training data set. By utilizing AI in the review process, we could proceed with the review from what AI judged to be highly relevant as evidence. Because 50% percent of the "relevant" data was included in the top 20% of documents that we reviewed, we succeeded in finding the necessary documents at an early stage of the investigation. Compared to the case where the review is carried out without using AI, the reviewefficiency improved by roughly30%. This dramatic increase in efficieny, has attracted a great deal of attention from financial companies that are experiencing similar cases.
