Reduced review time and costs for companies and attorneys involved in litigation
NEW YORK, January 31, 2023 – FRONTEO (TSE: 2158) has announced it has developed an improved algorithm for its AI review tool "KIBIT Automator" (see press release FRONTEO Develops Algorithm that Combines Ensemble Learning and Performance Prediction in KIBIT, an AI Engine Developed In-house Develops Algorithm that Combines Ensemble Learning and Performance Prediction). KIBIT Automator is utilized in actual projects, and we are pleased to announce we have achieved a reduction in the review ratio, which establishes a performance improvement compared to conventional AI algorithms. This product has been continuously improved since its development in 2012 to enhance its functionality, and this achievement is another testament to that.
In recent years, the rapid development of the digital society has rendered IT support processes routine, despite a steady increase in volume of electronically managed data. Document review work related to related to eDiscovery requirements in international litigation and digital forensics (information preservation and analysis of information recorded on digital devices) requires both speed and quality typically within compressed timeframes. Time spent required to review data tends to increase in line with data volumes, and the corresponding substantial costs associated with such work continues to be a major challenge for companies.
KIBIT Automator assists companies and attorneys with vast document review workloads associated with active matters. By using AI to identify documents that are relevant to evidence – and those that are not – with a high degree of accuracy, KIBIT Automator has been able to improve the efficiency and sophistication of such work. This latest AI improvement, which was recently deployed in actual cases, enabled us to confirm that compared to the conventional AI algorithm, the percentage of documents that require manual review to identify 80% of "relevant" material was reduced from 32% to 26%. This result proves that our latest advancement with KIBIT Automator leads to a reduction of work, and further highlights FRONTEO’s commitment to the improvement of existing digital forensic solutions and operations.
